Unrefined Mediterranean salt is obtained by natural evaporation of seawater in artificially created salt ponds on the protected sea coast. In addition to sodium chloride, it contains about 2% of other minerals present in seawater. Unlike regular table salt, it does not contain anti-caking agents and added iodine compounds.
